Day 1

We began the morning starting off a little later than expected. We than began the long journey to North Carolina. On the trip we stopped several times for breaks because we were crammed in a 15 seat passenger van.
Along the car ride I began to think about all the exciting things we are going to be doing over the next few days. I am most looking forward to touring the different hospitals and just seeing how they defer from not only each other but the hospitals I have been in. The thing I am most nervous to experience on the trip is people being prejudice to us students because we are not as familiar with the cultural as others would be if they lived here.
Because I have not learned much about the Cherokee culture I am excited to go to the museum tomorrow after we have orientation at the hospital. Going to the museum will help me understand the history of the culture and why they have resilience towards many people of the American culture.

My knowledge of the Native American culture is more about the Western United States Native Americans. One thing I find very interesting about the Native American culture is how they pass on stories through generation to generation.
When thinking if I have any personal prejudices  or resilience against the cultural I do not believe I do because I am very excited to learn more about the culture of the Eastern Native Americans.
Overall, I am excited to see what the trip has in store for us 11 girls. We will all get to experience  something new and learn about a culture we do not know much about.

I love that you brought up how they share stories from generation to generation. I think that is really neat and a good way to remember history. I too look forward to learning more about the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and see what they can teach us, share with us, and open our eyes to their culture.
